Celebration Cakes is now coming into the 5th year of business and I couldn't be happier.
I've always had a passion for baking. It was hard not to, growing up with the aromas of baking from both my mum and nan. Mum always made our birthday cakes and I was always amazed at how intricate the detail was. I guess this is what sparked the interest in me.
I completed 4 years in UWIC gaining a HND in Hotel & Catering Management so naturally followed a career in catering, working a number of jobs in Contract Catering and finally being promoted to Deputy Catering Manager at the National Assembly for Wales in Cathays Park.
I started making cakes for family and friends as a hobby, going to night school one evening a week with my mum to learn further skills. I was totally hooked. My first wedding cake was made for my cousin in the same year and i was so proud of my acheivement.
After having my second child, and with a great deal of support my fabulous husband, and much persuasion from family and friends I decided to leave my career and set up my own business doing what I love best.
I absolutely love creating new designs and also puttIng other peoples ideas into cake form. The options are endless, but my real love is in making wedding cakes. It's such a privilege and responsibility to create the perfect cake for you for your special day. I like to understand exactly what you want, whether it's matching the cake to a particular theme for your wedding, to maybe even taking a design from the wedding dress itself and transferring it to the cake. To get all of the right information, I feel it's important to meet with the bride (and sometimes the groom, though they very rarely get much of a say!) I offer a free consultation at my home spending as much time as necessary so we can come up with the cake of your dreams.
